Post-blues

Once you recover from being sick (be it just a slight fever and cold), everything seems to be so optimistic, for a time.

Obligatory year-end post

OK, it’s been quiet over here for some time. I went to Mysore on the 20th, and spent around eight hectic days working there. It was a lot of fun, and very tiring. This was the first time I’d been to the south, so I was really excited. I had written a very long-ish post [...]

Packing

Am packing for a trip (work-related, unfortunately) to Mysore… Damn, I just got unpacked yesterday.

Steven Erikson on life, and writing

I don’t usually quote long bits of text, but this is just too good to not share: [I]’ve just finished Toll the Hounds, which is the eighth novel in the Malazan Book of the Fallen series. At the moment I am working on a co-written novella with Ian C. Esslemont set in the same world, [...]

Airports

Stuck at the airport, again. My flight’s delayed by three hours. Mumbai airport’s got free WiFi courtesy Airtel, so the wait’s not that bad this time. Nice speeds too.

Instant Custard

We made some custard yesterday, of instant variety. It wasn’t too good, and we ate it hot. But nonetheless it gave me a nice feeling of satisfaction to eat something that I made. Cooking seems like some sort of alchemy to me. I can only cook a very few things, and almost all of them [...]

Agnostic thoughts

Prélude: Every once in a while, I get the urge to write something ‘serious’. I always feel embarrassed afterwards, but what the hell, I’m posting this anyway. I wouldn’t go so far as to call myself an atheist—other people can claim that honour. Atheism is serious, and religion is something I don’t care for enough [...]

Distracted, much.

Lately I’ve been distracted a lot. I use a couple of computers simultaneously at work—my laptop and the office desktop. It’s wonderful, and it’s distracting. The mail client runs on one machine, the browser on another. I lose track of what’s happening where. Synergy is wonderful, but I now that I’ve got a taste for [...]

Delayed

Yesterday, 21:00 hours My flight’s been delayed by over two hours—from 22:20 to 00:20. 21:30 hours Google Reader offline is great fun. 22:00 hours There’s a Nirulas at the departure terminal. Had a coffee, which was terrible, a brownie which was even worse, and a chocolate sundae which was very good. 22:15 hours Now the [...]

Two round-trips

I’ll be in Mumbai from 13to to 16th October, and again from 9th to 12th November. It’ll be good to be back home for a while, I miss my folks there. And I can carry some more books over here. Flying has become relatively cheap in India—a couple of years back no one would have [...]
