Mind sweep

Have got a lot on my mind lately; time for a mind sweep.

Ideas: I haven’t had any (good ones) in a long time. Am worried my mind’s going fallow.

Books: Re-reading House of Chains while waiting for Reaper’s Gale to be shipped. Don’t know why it’s taking so long. Indiaplaza went and canceled Devices and Desires on me, waiting for a refund. I love their deal on Harry Potter 7 though—only 630 bucks not counting the other discounts…

Music: I’ve been listening to Bach almost non-stop. This is probably why my mind keeps going in to loops. Anyway, the latest piece of Bach I am particularly fond of is Chaconne in D Minor. I didn’t like it on the first hearing—by the fifth or so I couldn’t stop playing it.

Music Performances: YouTube rocks! I didn’t think there would be so many amazing performances of ‘classical’ music out there. Check out Mstislav Rostropovich performing the Prelude to Bach’s Cello Suite 1, The Berlin Philharmonic performing the 1812 Overture (Part 1, Part 2) and Nathan Milstein playing Bach’s Chaconne (Part 1, Part 2). Amazing stuff, really.

Tech: Haven’t done any cool programming recently: I feel sad. Any projects I may have alluded to here before are on hold for now. Am thinking of using Mercurial or Git in favour of Darcs if I ever start working on anything big…

Life: I love that the rains have finally started. It is weird how I keep forget, and am reminded of, how much I love this season, each year.
